Deer and scuba diving

Last weekend was another a normal weekend in Kiel. I checked out some deer and wild pigs that live in a park up the road and went for my first open water dive. Just the usual.

I hear the Baltic algae is beautiful this time of year.

Yes be sure to take some pics of that algae for us all! Germany and diving....it's an interesting mix. I worry about it being cold though, but then again I worry about everything these days.

There were unfortunately no algae - to make up for it, however, there were many pink starfish sitting on the seabed, hanging out with the occasioanl orage crab. They have obviously heard of complimentary colours.

I told this story to the charming manuela, translating starfish word for word into German, who puzzled over it for a whole day, imagining glorious sparkly fishes flitting about in the fjord, until she realised what I meant. The German word, for interested parties, is not Sternfische (which I made up apparently), but Seesterne.
